Welcome to Aviara Oaks Elementary School’s PTA web page. The PTA’s goal is to create a collaborative environment with teachers and parents, and foster a sense of community and love of learning so that students can reach their highest potential.
AOE PTA is a volunteer group comprised of concerned parents, teachers and administrators. We are part of the California State PTA and National PTA. Our PTA is led by an energetic and dedicated elected Board of Officers, which meets monthly to develop, review and implement programs and related expenditures for recommendation to the General Association of Members (dues paying parents), which has final control of how we spend our money.
The PTA supports AOE by raising money to offer enrichment programs and in-classroom learning opportunities, science and P.E. specialty teachers, and technology enhancements not covered by the State. The monies raised by our Support Our School (SOS) annual giving campaign, gift wrap sales, Jog A Thon and Book Fairs allow us to offer a Science Fair, cultural arts programs, Family Movie Nights, Halloween and Spring Dances, Red Ribbon Week, character building programs, teacher grants, instructional supplies and supplies needed by the health office and administration.
Funding for public schools has been significantly reduced by the State, and there is no indication that the downward trend of reduced per pupil spending in California will change anytime soon. As a result, CUSD’s ability to fund art, music science or technology at AOE has been compromised: without private donations, we would be unable to offer the enrichment programs that help to make our school a high achieving one. The PTA’s ability to fund the enrichment programs, specialty teachers and technology improvements is determined annually, based upon the continued support of AOE parents and donations from the community.
Nearly every study regarding elementary school education concludes that the best predictor of success is parental involvement in the classroom and at school activities. Please consider joining the PTA and becoming invested in your child’s education. There are many opportunities to become involved at AOE. Whether you have one day or one hour a month to volunteer, there is something for you to do. Without you, we are one parent short! |
