"Back
to School Night" Reminder
Please plan to attend Back to School Night using the schedule
noted to the right under "Dates to Remember." This is an
opportunity for parents to meet their child's teacher and learn of the
planned curriculum and activities for this school year. You won't
want to miss it!
Support Our Schools
(SOS)
We are off to an AMAZING start! Thank you to all the AOE
families who have so generously donated to our 2008 - 2009 AOE Support Our
School Annual
Giving Campaign. At the end of Week 2, we just passed the $20,000 mark in
personal donations and matching corporate sponsorships.
Our AOE students will begin
to receive the direct benefits of these donations as Mrs. Wright and Mrs.
Tomechak start their science experiments.
PE, Kindergarten Karate, and Music will begin in a few short weeks. Teacher
classroom grants are available now!
Please keep those donations
coming to keep Science Labs, PE, KindergartenKarate, Music, and Classroom
grants alive. Your 2008 SOS contributions will
fund:
* Science Teachers, Grades 1-5: $29,000
* PE Teachers, Gr. 1-5/Kindergarten Karate: $29,000
* Music Program, K-5: $20,000
* Teacher Grants/Classroom Expenses K-5: $5,000
PTA sponsored events like gift wrap sales, restaurant nights, carnivals and
dances cover only a portion of these expenses. Our SOS Campaign Goal is to
raise $50,000 by November 15th to cover the remainder of the costs.
Need a donation form? Click here. All donations are 100% tax deductible
to the full extent of the law.

kids do each day? They come from the AOE Copy Center in the
office. We are staffed completely by parent volunteers and need
interested volunteers. No special skills needed - we'll train
you! You can choose a 1 hour shift once a week or twice a
month. It's a great way to get to know the office ladies (Peggy and
Karen),our Principal (Mrs. Heusing), and everything that goes on at
school Please call Amy Witman at 760-420-8622 or email
your information to marmwit4@yahoo.com.
Recycling
Last week we had our biggest collection EVER! You brought in enough
recyclables to earn $465. What a way to start the year! Let's
keep it up. Every aluminum can and CRV or CA Cash Refund plastic
bottle gets us one step closer to our $7000 goal for the year. The
money we raise will help pay for our Science Teachers. If you took
recyclables to the center over the summer, please bring your cash donation
to one of the Recycling volunteers. We are out every Thursday morning
starting at 7:45 on the main lawn.
